Well, I just got my 15 Mbps up/15 Mbps down FiOS installed. And it is cool. How cool? This cool:
The install took about 6 hours; the tech had to run the fiber from the pole to the house, install a box on the outside, install a box in the basement, and run coax from one of the boxes (I’m not yet sure which one) to my office (which is on the second floor), going through the outside wall. He did a great job!
The router that they give you, an Actiontec MI-424WR, seems decent, but it only does 802.11b/g. So I followed these instructions to put it in to bridge mode, hooked up my 802.11n AirPort Extreme, and everything worked great, as evidenced by this picture I just took:
For the record, it took 10 minutes, total, to download that ISO, which breaks down to about 1.17 MB/sec on average. A little bit slower than the speed tests would indicate, but, man, I’ll take it.
