BRAIN ASPLODES

I just had the goodmisfortune to see this ad:

While I’m not normally in the habit of looking at ads, the fact that it was for the Zune caught my eye, since I am always interested in learning more about how Microsoft is poorly marketing their iPod-dust-biting baby.

And, once this thing caught my eye, I couldn’t stop trying to make sense of it. “You make it you?” What the hell does that mean? Does it come with step-by-step instructions as to how to form it into a plaster model of yourself?

Suitably intrigued, I clicked on the link, only to be sent to the horror that is zunejourney.net I dare you to try and actually do something meaningful on the site within 30 seconds. I selected “Videos” from the first screen and was presented with an arrow that followed my mouse and a button that said “click and hold.” I moved the mouse around a bit, saw that it moved the funky pseudo-3D landscape around, and then quickly closed the browser window before I started having acid flashbacks to the 70s teenagerhood that I never had.

Anyway, my point is, please, for the love of all that is holy, please do not buy a Zune. It might be a decent media player, but, more importantly, you really don’t want to encourage these kinds of ads. Do it for my sake.
